It has been one year, to the day, since ABB announced that the air-cooled ACS600 MultiDrive was going to become obsolete at the end of 2024, but what does this mean for you?

In its current phase, the `Limited` phase, buying a brand new ACS600 MultiDrive is no longer an option. What's more, ABB will now only offer a limited range of life cycle services and spare parts for this popular variable-speed drive family.

At the end of 2024, when the drive officially becomes `Obsolete`, ABB will no longer offer life cycle services and spare parts for the air-cooled ACS600 and recommends doing a retrofit or replacing the ACS600 with an active product.

What are your options?

Whilst ABB drives are well-known for being robust, if you are using the air-cooled ACS600 MultiDrive on a critical application, it would be prudent to consider upgrading to a drive from the ABB ACS800 family or something similar.

Although a new drive might seem expensive, they generally break less, they typically use improved technologies, they're supported (unlike their predecessors) and they provide better economy.

With that said, at Foxmere, we understand that "simply" replacing an old drive with a new one is often anything other than simple.

So, if you plan to keep using your ACS600 into its planned obsolescence, you will be pleased to know we have you covered there too.

What can Foxmere do for you?

As well as current variable speed drives, such as the ABB ACS800, Foxmere sell and repair obsolete ABB drives such as the SAMI STAR, ACS300, ACS400 and ACS500 and, of course, the ACS600.

We also have a deep bench of supply partners for when automation parts are harder to find, such as with older ABB drive equipment for example.

What's more, all of our parts, whether new, new-old-stock or refurbished, come with a 12-month warranty.
